Shay is an indigenous social entrepreneur named in the Forbes Asia list of 30 top Social Entrepreneurs Under 30 for his work enabling indigenous leaders to innovate their way to community change. Shay is a co-founder of Te Whare Hukahuka, an award-winning social enterprise on a mission to inspire and empower indigenous leaders to grow world class social enterprises. With a bold vision of improving the lives of 10 million indigenous people, Te Whare Hukahuka have trained and provided enterprise advisory to more than 750 Māori leaders who collectively serve more than 250,000 Maori whānau.
Shay grew up in a small Far North community that experiences significant social and economic deprivation, studied at the University of Auckland and worked at The Icehouse business growth hub before co-founding Te Whare Hukahuka. Shay is also a public speaker, advisory board member, and recognised futurist.
