Founder and CEO of ISE (United Kingdom)
Sarah is passionate about social enterprise and has been actively involved in the sector in the UK, locally and nationally, for over 20 years. Sarah is the founder and CEO of ISE, a social enterprise which was established in June 2000. ISE is an intermediary organisation whose mission is to grow and develop the social enterprise sector using innovation and partnership to achieve its goals. Since its inception ISE has supported the start-up of over 350 social enterprises and works currently with an additional 500 on business growth and enhancing social value. ISE constantly innovates using its grass roots knowledge of the experience of ‘social enterprises’ it supports to create innovative approaches, programmes and interventions. Recently ISE has developed amazing new approaches to business support using networks, community assets and sector based consortia all linked to market opportunities to drive business growth.
ISE earns its money through business unit and hot desk rental, contracts and consultancy and while it lasts European Funding.
Relationships are very important in Sarah’s work and she works closely with residents, any non-profit, universities, local and national government, corporates and smaller businesses and all of these agencies are involved in the ISE networks.
For fun Sarah is a member of the RSA, is an Industrial Fellow of Aston University and is a board member of a number of social enterprises in the West Midlands.
