Founder and President of New Homeland Foundation (Taiwan)
After the 1999 Jiji Earthquake (also known as the 921 Earthquake) in Taiwan, Liao has devoted himself fully to the earthquake reconstruction affairs. Using the regional in-depth working model, he has successfully built up and developed an eco-township which is called “Taomi Frog Village & Puli Butterfly Town.” This model has initiated a NGO cooperation community and acquired a very precious co-governance experience with local communities.
In 2013, Liao co-founded a Puli Butterfly Symphony Orchestra and was appointed as a concert-master. He initiated a community music cultivation plan called “the Voice of Butterfly Pupas,” whose purpose is to use music to keep company with the children of underprivileged families.
Liao is a warm person with human concerns, who often gives tender care and feelings to the people and communities interacting with him, and in the end helps them regain courage and strength to face challenges and adversity in life.
